General Residence Homestead Exemption Application for 2025
DCAD is pleased to provide this service to homeowners in Dallas County.
First of all, to apply online, you must upload the documents required by the application:
Texas Driver's License or Texas ID Card with the same address as the homestead property
If any of the following apply to you, the online application is available for you!
Owned and Occupied the property on January 1 of the year the application is made
Single Homeowner
Married Homeowner filing together
 
Applications cannot be filed before the date you qualify for the exemption
At this time, the following will require a printable application because additional documents are required.

- Late filing for Residence Homestead for prior tax year
- Age 65 or Older Exemption
- Disabled Person Exemption
- Age 55 or Older Surviving Spouse Exemption
- Ownership by a Trust
- Multiple Owners for Residence Homestead Exemption
- Transfer of Tax Ceiling (separate form required)
- Disabled Veteran Exemption (separate application required)
- 100% Disabled Veteran Exemption (separate application required)
- Manufactured Homes for Residence Homestead Exemption
- Certified participant of the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP)
- Federal / State Judge and spouse or Peace Office who holds a driver’s license under Transportation Code, §521.121(c) & §521.1211.
